Think of the absolute worst way to wake up…
We’re going through it RIGHT NOW.
EVERY MORNING!
Our sweet little 3-year-old toddler moved to a big girl bed 3 weeks ago and since then she’s been a permanent alarm clock at 6:30 every morning.
By 9:00 a.m. we are all laughing about it. By 9:00 p.m. we start questioning whether it’s a good idea or not to stay up so late considering we have an ongoing 6:30 a.m. wake up call.
Everyone wakes up differently; Phoebe comes into our bedroom and crawls into bed with me. She will fall back to sleep for an hour or so, our legs and arms intertwined in the sweetest little spooning position, until ultimately she will whisper in my ear, “mommy, I farted”. At least she’s quiet about it. Abby wakes up and stands stoically in front of me, breathing on me and watching me sleep. The only reason I wake up is because I feel a ‘presence’. Very Children of the Corn of her. And then there’s Cecilia.
I would put a gate on her door, but if she’s stuck in one room with no toys, she quickly destroys the room. I don’t know what it is about my kids and their books, but they have all been through the ‘I love tearing up books’ stage and Cecilia is in that stage right now. So I am not to keen on ‘trapping’ her in her room. Abby and Phoebe get really upset with her when she wakes them up. I don’t blame them. We have started telling the girls to lock their doors so Cecilia won’t bust in.
I am somewhat comforted by the fact that her waking up at 6:30 is a stage and HOPEFULLY a short-lived one.
“Hey, I just met you
and this is crazy
but here’s my mother
so call me crazy”
the original lyrics are “but here’s my number“. I like Phoebe’s better.
I think we have a future song writer in our house…
